There is no way to speak of humility without mentioning the apostle Paul and his example as imitators of Christ. And in all humility he says "I am the main of sinners," who can recognize the size of his misery? He who knows who he is in Christ and is aware of the great grace that has reached him. From persecutor of the church to apostle of Christ.
We are no different from the apostle Paul. We are the greatest sinners and our sins and transgressions have offended the glory of God. But one day, He sent His Son to die in our place. We are fruits of redemption and of a grace that has reached us even though they are immersing. Knowing that we are sinners allows us to recognize the size of God's grace, irresistible grace.
When we have this understanding of who we are and who Christ is, we do not look to others with judging eyes, accusing fingers, and sharp tongues. We understand that we are all sinners and even though one's sin is different from the other's sin, all sinners are. We need more humility, we need to learn to walk as Christ walked.
Pride is one of the biggest hindrances to our walk with Christ. Sometimes we are arrogant, arrogant, accusatory, vain, and we think we do not need God. We are not in the position of judges and so why are we pointing so many fingers daily? There is only one Judge.
Unlike pride, humility brings us closer to God. When we walk in humility, we can understand that the cross is the only cause of glory. In Galatians 6:14, apostle Paul states, "As for me, may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ."
We need to be very careful about the pride that has grown in the Christian milieu. We are seeing a generation that does not listen to anyone, does not admit of correction, can not sit with someone who has different opinions and talks. On the contrary, it has increased situations in which MY opinion should be accepted, I hold the truth, I am above good and evil. Watch out! We must tread the path of humility and recognize that we are dust and nothing else.
Make an assessment in your heart right now and answer: Do you feel the need for affirmation? Need to be the center of attention on the wheels of conversation? Looking for praise wherever you are? Do you feel a need to diminish or point out faults in others to feel better? Do you find it difficult to talk to people who have a different opinion than yours? Do not accept correction? If your answer is yes to these questions, take a break and go back to the foot of the cross to relearn from where you were rescued.
We must decrease so that He may grow in us. When we recognize the greatness of God and look at our smallness, it is inevitable to recognize the incalculable love of Jesus giving His life in our place. The humility that comes from God does not teach about boasting in deeds and more deeds and showing it to others, no! Humility teaches me that I recognize myself as flawed and sinful, no matter what I do on this earth, I am a sinner attained by the grace of my God. Look at God and that alone will suffice.
