Norma Maria de Oliveira, the prosecutor of the prefecture of Itabira, city of the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil, gave birth to her first daughter on Tuesday (10), at Maternidade Hospital Octaviano Neves, in Belo Horizonte. The mother and daughter, baptized Ana Leticia, pass well after a cesarean section in the health unit of the capital of Minas Gerais.
Norma stressed that she felt a lot of prejudice for making efforts to get pregnant at 64.
"Women talk like this: are you crazy at this age?" And I do not care about that kind of prejudice, so I did anyway " Norma told us.
The obstetrician Rita de Cássia Amaral, who made the birth, explained that on this situation, every pregnancy, is a pregnancy of high risk. At Norma's age, it gets worse. It was necessary, for example, that the doctor administer an anticoagulant substance, which is not common for younger women.
"What was most surprising was that the procedure worked well the first time," the doctor told.
Norma de Oliveira tried to get pregnant since she was 34 and said she even went to India to try a "surrogacy", but ended up not closing the contract there. Today, she says she feels fulfilled, because she has always thought about having a profession and gathering goods just to have a child care.
